The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MoICT) in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and the ICT sector associations launched a Graduate Internship Program (GIP). The GIP is an 18-month employment program whereby the Government provides a subsidy of 50% of each interns’ salary during the first 12 months of employment and 25% subsidy during the next six months.

Objective:
Provide graduates with training and skills. Contribute to the relief of unemployment among graduates of information technology and telecommunications engineering. Contribute to the long-term economic development

Target Group(s): - Private sector
                             - Fresh Graduates
Conditions:
- Intern/employee must be unemployed and has graduated from university during the last 24 months
- The intern/employee has not worked in his/her area of study previously.
 
Benefits to the Interns:
- An internship/employment at a private sector company for 18 months.
- A salary JD 300 during the internship/employment period.
Government’s commitments:
- The Government will contribute a 50% share of the interns’ salaries (up to JD 150) during the first 12 months
- The Government will contribute a 25% share of the interns’ salaries during the next 6 months
- The Government will cover the cost of soft skills training that is to be provided to each intern.
 
Company commitments:
- The company is to pay the intern/employee no less that JD 300 during the first 12 months of internship/employment of which it will receive a 50% subsidy from the Government (up to JD 150)
- The company is to pay the intern’s social security monthly at full salary.
- The company is to ensure that interns are working in their field of specialization.
- The company is to provide health insurance and other benefits to interns according to its internal procedures (only if such benefits are available in the company).
- The company commits to submitting the required performance and evaluation reports to the program’s management on quarterly basis.
